The coins were struck at the San Francisco Mint in a copper-nickel clad composition. The 1999 United States Mint "50 State Quarters" Proof Set contains 5 coins. These frosted United States Mint proof coins are extraordinarily brilliant, with sharp relief and a mirror-like background. Sculpted foregrounds give them a special cameo effect.
